Municipal power at risk as Pella faces coal shortage
Pella may shut down its municipal electric plant threatening electric light water supply and sanitation. Coal from southeast mines is late and may not arrive in time to prevent stoppage. Local officials met with the mine owner to negotiate, while national leaders struggle to resolve coal labor disputes. Sheriff and state aid could be invoked to protect workers.
