Corn Shortage Drives Eastern FArm Need In War Time
The War Food Administration urges moving surplus Iowa corn to eastern farms to sustain livestock and poultry production. Iowa extension head R K Bliss notes cribs in Iowa could boost meat output in the East. Without corn and feed grains, eastern farmers may cut operations and markets may weaken. Iowa farmers push shelling and shipping despite busy field work. OPA warns corn ceiling prices stay unchanged and rail transport could delay shipments over the next 2 to 6 months due to Pacific theater demands.
