Missionaries Commissioned by RCA Synod
Five new missionaries were commissioned by the General Synod of the Reformed Church at Buck Hill Falls Pennsylvania. Two by the Home Board and three for foreign service were named. Reuben Ten Haken and his wife were sent to Mescalero New Mexico for Indian work, while Eugene Ten Brink and Blaise Jevi were set to study and proceed to India after training. The group was commissioned by Synod President M Stephen James with remarks from Wynand Wickers of Hope College and Ida Scudder of Vellore.

Reformed Church Education Board Reports Enrollment Rise
The Reformed Church in America notes a 6000 plus rise in Sunday School enrollment last year despite many members serving in the Armed Services. College enrollment runs about half normal while budgets stayed balanced across three colleges and two theological seminaries. Youth work shows fifteen conferences with strong attendance.

The Ministers Fund report to the General Synod shows 124 min isters 168 widows and 6 orphans received aid totaling over 100000 in the past year making 208 pensions. Ninety one percent of church clergymen are new fund members and The Rev Gerard R Gnade of Schenectady NY succeeds Dr George C Lenington as General Secretary after retirement.

The spring pig crop in Iowa for 1945 totals about 11.719 million head, up 2 percent from 11.537 million in 1944. Average pigs saved per litter rose to 6.34, the highest since 1941, while sows farrowed fell 4 percent to an estimated 1.861 million. Breeding intentions point to a 25 percent rise in fall farrowings to 824,000 sows, yielding about 6.234 million pigs, with total spring plus fall output near 17.023 million, about 9 percent above 1944 but 19 percent below 1943.

No Advance in Corn Prices Expected

Holland Faces Loss of One-Third Farmland to Floods
Holland has lost about a third of its farm land due to German flood diversions. Reclamation of some 250000 acres remains a top challenge as waters recede slowly in the westland, with miles of damaged dikes and widespread displacement. Farm Index At New High
The Town index of prices received by farmers on May 15 1945 stands at 200 percent of its 1910 1914 pre war average. This is the highest index on prices received since World War I and is up a point from the previous month. The ratio of prices received to prices paid, interest and taxes, stands at 112 a new high in the ratio. Livestock feeding ratios show changes the corn hog ratio down two points due to a slight rise in corn prices while butterfat dairy feed ratio and egg poultry feed ratio show slight increases.
