Sparks was killed when struck by the defendants car after a tire deflated. Sparks’ companion James Reed injured. Gladys Hendrix, the defendant's new wife, slightly hurt. The court set Jan 19 to consider a new trial and motions. maximum penalty is $1000 fine and eight years.

Theft Suspect Is Returned to Iowa
Elmer Reeder age 27 was sent back to Chariton Iowa from Chappell Nebraska to face arraignment on a horse theft charge. Authorities say he stole a horse from his father in law C W Templeton farm near Russell and sold it to a Chariton dealer before heading west. Sheriff John J Smith reported the theft and arranged the transfer with Nebraska authorities who detained Reeder on arrival. Serif Smith accompanied Reeder from Chappell and returned home with him early Monday.

Kellogg Crash May Be Fatal Near Skunk River Viaduct
Kellogg-Clifford Redding of Hugo Colo was injured in a truck auto collision near here at about 9 30 am. He suffered multiple fractures and possible skull fracture and is in critical condition at Skiff Memorial hospital Newton. The Hudson Essex Terraplane from Detroit was driven by C B Smith of Schultz Bread Co Des Moines. Smith escaped serious injury.
