Traffic Laws Not Properly Observed Here Says Officer
Ed Polson of the Iowa Public Safety Department visited the Chronicle on Thursday January 24. He oversees safety education in 26 counties including 11 towns similar to Pella and noted 1951 city records show no fatalities or injuries in Pella but 89 traffic arrests with 83 for speeding and reckless driving and 6 for stop sign violations. He warned that running stop signs endangers lives and that leniency by police is no excuse. He urged local officers to educate drivers and use warnings first then arrests for repeat offenders.
