Winter storms will reduce Iowa wildlife entering the spring breeding season. Quail and other birds suffer in hard winters unless fed. birds seek heavy cover for shelter or perish. Thousands assist by creating winter feeding stations to help birds survive severe weather.
The music department will present a Christmas concert Friday night December 21 at 8:00 in the auditorium. It will feature holiday numbers and is free to the public, with prior outside performances noted as limited.

The season runs August 1 to March 1, peak hunting is November 15 to January 15, and Tularemin rabbit fever is not prevalent in 1945.
Clarence J. Sweem, chairman of the Marion County AAA Committee, urges farmers who sold grass seed to dealers before January 1, 1946 and who qualified under the 1945 AAA program to file their bill of sale at the County Office by January 1, 1946. Seed sold after December 31, 1945 earns no payment. The AAA Poundage payment is 3 1/4 cents per pound for red clover and 2 1/2 cents per pound for alfalfa and other seed, funded by Congressional appropriation to boost 1945 seed harvesting and sales.
Despite removal of all slaughter controls by the OPA daily inquiries persist at the Des Moines OPA state office. Officials urge buyers and sellers to follow correct ceiling prices and note that county war price boards can provide guidance on pricing and service charges.
