A historic ad copy touts Dr Pierce's Favorite Prescription as a rational cure for female reproductive system disorders. It claims nine of ten cases stem from "womanly organs" and promotes a non alcohol tonic made from native roots as a proven remedy.
In Barham Hall on Christmas Eve the mistletoe legend returns with a mysterious singing voice. Roland Lyndale, unsettled by the eerie event, spots a hidden woman beneath the lone hawthorn on the Yote sward while Leo Lyndale lies ill with pneumonia and the hall hums with festivity and foreboding.
Phyllis Egerton, last of Druscilla Ives, seeks the fate of her ancestor at Yate farm and Barham Hall. She meets Roland Baid, travels through snow, and shares a kiss by the church grave under the mistletoe. A hopeful New Year follows their union.
The library at Columbia College received its inaugural book plate in 1795. Designed and etched on copper by Alexander Anderson, noted as the first American wood engraver, then a medical student.
Frank J. Cheney the senior partner of Cheney & Co. swears the firm will pay one hundred dollars for every case of catarrh not cured by Hall's Catarrh Cure. Notary public A. W.
