Iowa State College Agricultural Experiment Station has designed a three-pen movable plywood hog house that weighs about 1.6 pounds per unit versus 2400 pounds for conventional builds. The design eliminates joints, uses large plywood sheets for uniform strength, resists splitting, and offers longer life with similar initial cost and lower annual expense due to durability. An 8 by 18 foot three-pen model was tested, with a gabled roof and plywood walls and floors secured to a wooden frame.
