A group named American Agriculture advocates a Dec 14 farm strike to halt product flows, aiming for 100 percent parity and broader market rights. Labor, especially truckers, may back the effort, raising worries of clashes with non-striking farmers and amplified losses from higher prices.
A.C. Nielsen Co notes a drop in television audiences with an 8 percent dip in daytime and 3 percent at night. Networks fear shrinking reach will depress ad rates while PTA groups and churches push back on sex and violence. Critics say many new shows misfire with crude humor as readers seek reading and family time.
In 1967 more than 450 guests from Pella and 13 neighboring towns toured five Pella homes and the Fowler Telephone Co office during the Pella Garden Club's fifth annual Christmas luncheon and tour. Also noted were elections to the Pella Co op Exchange board with William De Kock Art Van Zee and Marion Wickhart chosen for three year terms.
