Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brand on the birth of a daughter Lorie Ann born Saturday July 28 at Skiff Hospital. A welcome home was held Wednesday evening at the Christian Reformed church where Rev Havert and his family were presented a gift by the congregation. A social hour followed in the church basement. McCalmont Homemakers met Wednesday afternoon with Mrs Delmar Jansen as hostess. Election of officers resulted in Mrs Jansen as president, Mrs Harris Van Zante as vice president, and Mrs Lloyd Berry as secretary treasurer. Plans were made for a family pot luck supper in September. Also present were Mrs dames Leotard Kling Glenn Temple Jasper Hatch Leonard De Koning L Vander Pol and guest Mrs Darrell Jansen, Mr and Mrs Arthur Samson, Jim Kathy Ruth Ann and Craig, who were Saturday evening guests in the R V Smith home.
Sunday services were led by Rev Wm Dryshout at Leighton Christian Reformed church. Fremont visitors Mr and Mrs S M Massie spent time with Mr and Mrs John Kenning in Otley. Cedar Livestock 4 H club met July 10 at Neil Hynick's. attendance 12 with two leaders Richard Veldhuizen and Joe Hoskins, seven members, three parents. Veldhuizen-Van Veldhuizen reunion held at Edmundson Park Friday. Further visits include Mr and Mrs Jake Hols at Mrs Emma Carter’s in Fremont and various relatives visiting Eddyville and Ottumwa. Betty Beekhuizen returned from California after Summer Workship in Mission SWIM.
