Injured Town Packing salesman dies after car rollover
Till Groom, a salesman for Town Packing, died from injuries sustained last Wednesday when his car overturned at the No 2 and What Cheer road crossing under construction. Witnesses said the vehicle hit a bump eight to ten inches below the adjacent road, tossing Groom. He was taken to Delta, where Dr Grothaus found a fractured skull among other injuries. Expensive snooze for New Sharon man ends in jail
Albert Leatherman of near New Sharon drank with a stranger on road 59. When fuel ran dry they stopped five miles south of Oskalosa and Leatherman slept in the car. Constable C. C. Cole moved him to the county jail after motorists struggled to pass the stopped vehicle.

Grinnell Man, 96, Celebrates Birthday Today
D F Hays of Grinnell is ninety six years old today and his wife, two years younger, will be ninety four in October. Married December 12, 1867, he was born in 1834. The Grinnell Herald notes his bright energy as he plans a family gathering Sunday.

Leon Man Killed in Auto Accident
Art Martindale 54 a Leon plumber died in Osceola hospital from injuries after a Jefferson highway crash between Leon and Osceola Friday. Mrs Frank Mainard drove and the car struck a culvert causing a rollover. Martindale was thrown from the vehicle and his head struck the pavement. Survived by widow and three sons in Leon. Lizie Littell in the car was seriously hurt.

Young Lady Victim of Auto Accident near Colfax
Miss Alice Helen Long, 19, of Newton died after a car skidded in loose gravel and left the highway on No. 32 two and a half miles east of Colfax. Struck the ditch, she was thrown 30 feet and died before a physician arrived. The Long family moved to Newton from Chicago in January. Mr Long is general sales manager for One Minute Manufacturing Co. Monroe Mirror.

Kilduff Man 15s Seriously Injured
Raymond C. Fleck of Fleck Elevator at Kilduff suffered a severe accident last week Thursday. While descending a flight of three steps he fell onto a sack-filling machine, lacerating his right forearm, cutting tendons and muscles and severing arteries. He is hospitalized in Newton and expected to recover without permanent arm injury.

Demented Man Picked Up At Prairie City
A demented man was picked up in Prairie City Saturday night and turned over to authorities at Newton Sunday morning. He was first seen on the new pavement west of town near Patterson's residence, insisting on entering a Prairie City's whooppee car. Kenneth Messmaker vacated the back seat as the stranger entered it. They removed him when they reached town after telling it was their last stop. He was kept in jail overnight by Marshal Farwell. He gave the name George Warren and age forty nine. He said he had friends below the transcontinental line, but they all went by numbers.

Cadillac Wreck Near Ira Robinsons Farm Injures Four
A. Goldstein of Chicago and three friends escaped serious harm after a Cadillac slid on a wet road along Highway 6 detour near Ira Robinson’s farm. The car rolled 20 feet into a gully, rested on its wheels, and was badly damaged. All occupants had minor glass cuts. A Williams-Galliers wrecker failed to gain traction and left the car overnight. It was freed Thursday morning.
