Rev J J Hollebrands of Kalama Zoo Mich will preach at the daytime services. Student Wm Goulooze will preach at the evening service.
Rev W H Garfield of Webster City will preach both morning and evening at the Baptist Church on Sunday August 15.
Rev J J Hollebrands and his family from Kalamazoo Michigan arrived Tuesday evening for a vacation visit with relatives in Pella.
Nearly all of Mrs J B Vriezelaars children and their families returned for an indoor picnic after rain spoiled the De Reus gathering at Prairie City. The Christian Reformed church annual picnic and bazaar drew solid attendance amid the busy season. Raymond Henry celebrated his eighth birthday with friends and refreshments. Several local families hosted visitors from Des Moines Newton Pella and Colfax. Threshing slows due to rain though yields remain good with examples of fifty bushels per acre. Colorado visitor Mr Reynolds recalled old pioneers and shifting roads.
Miss Rachel Vander Molen aged 26 years 3 months and nine days died at her father's home north of Peoria Iowa at 2 pm Wednesday August 11 1926 Funeral will be Friday August 12 at 12 30 pm at the home and 1 pm at the Peoria church Interment Oakwood cemetery Pella Iowa Death followed an operation for appendicitis She leaves a father mother and nine brothers and sisters.
Dr Ray Fox son of Dr and Mrs C I Fox of Pella and Myrtle Peterson daughter of Callender Iowa were wed Wednesday August 4 at the Callender church. Ray, a recent medical school graduate, is a clinic assistant at University Hospital. The Chronicle extends congratulations.
Henry De Kock of Pella son of Mr and Mrs John De Kock and Edith Cathcart daughter of Mr and Mrs William Cathcart of Knoxville were married at the M E Church parsonage in Knoxville by Rev Bradford at 5 30 p m on Saturday August 7 They were accompanied by Oren Van Niewaal and Marjorie Momey er as official witnesses De Kock recently graduated from Central College and will teach science and coach athletics at Manson schools where the couple will reside The Chronicle extends best wishes
Arthur Bruinekool and Nina Grover of Pella were wed at eight oclock Wednesday evening August 1 at the bride’s parents home. Rev Albert Vander Ploeg officiated the ring ceremony followed by supper. The couple was witnessed by the bride’s family and by Nina’s sister from Des Moines. The bride is well known. Bruinekool owns the Pella Tank and Pipe Company. The Chronicle extends congratulations and best wishes.
A U S Department of Commerce survey shows 2931 fewer marriages and 336 more divorces in Iowa in 1925 versus 1924. Pottawattamie County accounts for nearly all the marriage drop, with local data pointing to the slump in that county.
The data show Ses marriages fell from 3912 in 1924 to 1262 in 1925, a 2650 decline, with Nebraska law changes driving fewer marriages outside the county. statewide marriages fell 11.8 percent from 24855 to 21924. divorces rose from 3782 to 4112, up 8.7 percent.
