On Friday afternoon July 30 the Home For the Aged held its annual sale with a large crowd from Wighton Otley Peoria Sully Knoxville and Des Moines attending. Auctioneer G De Boer led the sale then prayers and singing followed. Proceeds exceeded 96 dollars with thanks extended to all helpers. Earlier July 27 Miss Kate Don Adel celebrated a birthday with nieces visiting and treats provided.

Lightning Kills Team of Horses Near Bar Home
A team of horses was killed by an electrical storm two miles southeast of here at noon Saturday. Mrs. Clyde Yost, standing on a porch fifty feet away, was shocked but survived. Daughton, owner of the horses, had just lunch with threshers when he returned to find Mrs. Yost recovering from the electric shock. An inch of rain fell during the storm.
