Pella District Falls Short in Fifth War Bond Drive
The Pella District ended the Fifth War Bond Campaign short of its quota by about $15,000 with fewer bonds sold than in the Fourth Campaign. Marion County sales exceeded its quota but Pella underperformed, though service members’ sales added $9,281 toward the total. The drive totaled $1,399,162.10 for 1944, with thanks to local banks and offices and about 200 volunteers who went door to door. The campaign ends as preparations begin for the Victory Loan starting November 11.
