Mr and Mrs Harold Geurts celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in the Community Building Sully with relatives and friends. The event featured a three tier wedding cake silver and white decor and a program with readings by Rev Kammerand Mrs Vernon Huyser and a poem. A large guest list and refreshments followed with Cindy Guerts presiding at the guest table.

First church guild meeting invites Pella Classis women
All Pella Classis women are invited to the First Reformed Church guild meeting on April 28 at 7 30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. A two act documentary play In White America about the life of the American Negro will be staged by Central Players of Pel la directed by Maurice Birdsall. The drama spans 1700s to 1965, with 23 scenes, narrator voice, and folk music. The piece debuted at Central College last March and has toured churches and groups, including Morrison and Forreston Illinois Wyckhoff New Jersey and Cleveland Ohio.

America provided an outright grant of 1000 dollars to enable the cast to tour the play. An additional 500 dollar donation was received anonymously. In June it was presented at the Reformed Church General Synod in Buck Hills Falls Pennsylvania.

The Mahaska County 4-H Home Economics committee met on April 11 to plan summer activities. Joyce Stanley and Patty Gay were named representatives to health camp with alternates, and Dianna Goodman was chosen for leadership camp with Dixie Gatton as alternate.

60th Mr and Mrs John E Brenda observe anniversary
Tama celebrated the 60th wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs John E Brenda with an open house on Sunday afternoon. John Sybenga of Sybenga Studio in Oskaloosa earned multiple awards from the Missouri Professional Photographers Association exhibit in Jefferson City. Sybenga received top recognition on all six submitted prints. Donna Vail of Gibson Iowa earned oil color portrait awards. The awarded photographs will be displayed in Sybenga Studio windows in Oskaloosa and Pella.
