Enlighten Farmers on Income Tax
The Iowa Farm Bureau Federation will distribute complete information on its stance against the income tax as a replacement tax. Tax authorities’ figures are being mailed to every township to explain the current burdens of Iowa property taxation. The bureau urges county and township groups to back lawmakers who support a just tax revision, state income tax, and other measures to finance government costs and relieve property owners of the present tax burden. Charles J Hearst, president of Town Farm Bureau, says farmers feel the heaviest load and the system should base taxation on ability to pay.
