The Clerk of the District Court in Marion County Towa has filed an instrument said to be the last will of Henry Van Rockel. A hearing is set for 10:00 A M on May 1 in Knoxville to prove the will before the Clerk of Court.
Original notice in district court Marion County Iowa names Laura A Campbell plaintiff and A Davis Minnie B Davis L J Davie Alma F Davis Fleckner Bradford Davis Johnson Chew Lumber as defendants. It describes a mortgage dated September 26 1026 to secure a note of 1000 dollars and seeks to reform the deed to describe the land properly and foreclose the mortgage as a first lien with the sale of the real estate and bar the defendants equity of redemption. A hearing is set for April 24 1939 at 10:00 A M in Knoxville Iowa to prove validity of the testament of T T Bakker.
Plaintiff seeks judgment for interest and accrued costs on real estate and a writ of possession if not redeemed within one year from sale. A receiver may be appointed. No personal judgment is asked. The Pella Historical Society notes the passing of H Wormhoudt at 106 years old on March 21. The board recognizes her as the last surviving member of settlers who founded the 1847 colony and commends her devotion to God and community while expressing sympathy to her family. The resolution is entered in minutes and sent to her children.
In Peoria area farming notes report colder conditions hindering sowing. Richland township trustees set a public auction for a ground lot east of F. Vander Schaaf on Monday after noon April 3 at 2:00 p.m. Melvin Deur injured his arm last Thursday while cranking a track and will miss work for a period. Rev M Monsma and John Wynberg of Pella attended the Peoria men’s society meeting last Thursday night.
The group advised joining the Federation of men's societies and held an instructive discussion. Mrs. Henry Bosveld, recently treated at Abbott hospital in Oskaloosa, returned home Wednesday. She is improving, with Jennie Vander Hart assisting. Mrs. Ed Vander Hart returned from sister Mrs. R. Schakel in Pella after two weeks. Mrs. Schakel is now improving following illness.
