City council raises retiree fund city contribution
The Pecos City Council unanimously voted to raise the city’s contribution to the employe retirement fund from 100 to 200 percent of employee contributions, effective Jan 1, 1973. The move costs about $9,417.82 annually and boosts employee retirement benefits by 50 percent. A regional radio communications bid for law enforcement funding was approved.

Social Security checks rise 20 percent reach 40000 area families
Odessa Pecos area will see the first 20 percent higher social security checks on Tuesday October 3. H P Thomas district manager notes that both current and future beneficiaries gain from the increase for retirement disability and family insurance. A sample shows a retiree with 4200 annual earnings could receive up to 370.70 monthly for a family of three or more. A leaflet Higher Social Security Payments will be mailed to requests.
