Bus driver failed to see train that killed students
In Lafayette Oregon a school bus manned by 54 year old Rudy Baker was struck by a railway locomotive. Two of at least 41 children aboard were killed Annettee Smith age 9 and Christina Espinosa age 8. Lori Barr 16 was in critical condition with two more in serious condition. Thirty four were treated for minor injuries. The driver reported saying I am sorry I didn’t see it. The bus took rural riders to McMinnville schools from a farming community southwest of Portland.
