Balmorhea Woman Honored For Avon Service Fifty-Two Years
Sadie Draper of Balmorhea was honored at an Avon Products Inc. convention in Dallas for 52 years as an Avon representative, the longest tenure in the world. She received a diamond ring and three Lifetime pins, with recognition from Kansas City and Pecos officials. Draper started in 1920 delivering products by wagon, enduring personal tragedy and building a family Avon lineage in Texas.

Twelve Pecos girls completed a heedlework class taught by Mrs. Jane Hay at the Pecos Yarn Shop. Participants listed include Cami Ballard Lorrie Bates Dahonda Bryant Sherry Kent Patricia Meierholt Twili Ray Bambi Stanley Dorinda Swydow Michelle Ross D-Dee Terrell Becky Tharp and Becky Tharp. Mrs Hay will offer more classes this fall. Mrs Hay of Pecos Yarn Shop won a first award in the professional division of the Needlecrafters Association in the Dallas market for originality in pattern design and knitting of a white nylon dress with 13 pastel ribbons.
