Educational television arrives in Pecos through Pecos Barstow schools and Pecos Cable Vision. The 30 lesson bilingual program Car rascolindas will air five times weekly on Channel 12 for kindergarten through second grade, 8:45 to 9:15 a.m. and 1:15 to 1:45 p.m. plus a 6:30 p.m. Tuesday slot on Nov 7.
An ice storm dumped freezing rain and sleet across the Panhandle and parts of West and North Texas, cutting power lines and sparking accidents. Utility outages hit Groom, Canadian, Lefors, Claude, and other towns while schools closed and roads remained hazardous. Flooding threatened low areas around Abilene as warm pockets persisted farther south with heavy rains in some sectors.
Civil Air Patrol planes continue a search for a Cessna 421 missing since Sunday on a flight from Corpus Christi to Phoenix Aziz, Mr and Mrs William Carson reportedly left Corpus Christi amid the disappearance with search teams scouring the area today.
Pecos High School plans a Friday homecoming with the Eagles facing the Andrews Mustangs. The queen will be crowned at the game. Ex-student registration runs 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. with tours and refreshments by students. A chili supper is served 5 to 7:36 p.m. in the cafeteria.
The Pecos Eagle Booster Club will fold a meeting in the high school cafeteria at 8 p.m. today. Films from the Kermit game will be shown. Final plans will be made for the chili supper to be held before the game Friday. Visitors are welcome. All members are urged to attend.
Rodney Grable Pecos Junior High School eighth grader had free knee surgery at Park View Hospital Midland for injuries from the Pecos Andrews football game on Oct 21. Coach Beau Hendricks said ligament and cartilage were repaired and the leg will be in a cast six weeks. He will miss sports for a year and stay in the hospital four or five days.

Subzero temps hit the Wyoming Rockies, flashflood watches issued for parts of Arkansas and Oklahoma, and rain totals top four inches across the Southern Plains. Catholic Veterans meet Thursday at 8:30 p.m. at Santa Rosa Hall to discuss new officer installations.
Tommy Box a 26 year old New Mexico native has re joined the Pecos police after a three year absence. He has served in Dallas Carlsbad Roswell and the New Mexico State Police and even drove a bus before returning to Pecos where he will work in plain clothes until his uniform arrives. Box is married to Vera Jean and has three children. He chose Pecos over other departments and says he is glad to be back in law enforcement working with nine other officers.
United States and North Vietnam resume negotiations that could yield a cease-fire in Indochina by Sunday. Saigon may sign the accord despite recent hard statements. Officials caution no agreement is guaranteed and timing remains fluid.

A health film on aging, announced earlier, will be shown today in Room 28 with sessions at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Pauline Drew, the hospital’s nurse superintendent, said RNs LVNs aides and office nurses are invited. The program outlines the essential planning and teamwork needed by family physicians and para medical staff to address progressive infirmities in the elderly.
The Job Bank, a computer based placement system, began in the San Antonio District to speed job searches for applicants and broaden employer exposure. In Pecos and six offices, it updates daily openings, matches qualifications, and coordinates referrals across Midland and neighboring offices. By late 1973 all Texas Employment Commission offices will operate under Job Bank.
A gas line blast leveled a variety store during a Halloween coloring contest as six people died and nine were injured. More than 100 rescue workers searched overnight for additional victims but dawn brought no signs of others trapped. The dead include Mrs. Ray Kehren, her son Timothy, 10, Kristine McElmory, and two store clerks Marjorie Freiheit and Elaine Dammann.
