Revisions to treaty move Israel-Egypt talks forward
Jerusalem IP foreign minister Dayan says new instructions go to Washington to revise the draft peace treaty with Egypt without overturning the apple cart. Cabinet approves amendments aimed at keeping talks independent from West Bank and Gaza politics as Begin and Weizman seek a basis for agreement. Washington talks pause as both sides consult their governments. Egypt’s Kamal Hassan Ali awaits further progress with Cyrus Vance.
