Pecos hosts a busy lineup including booster club chili dinner from 5 to 7 30 pm at the Pizza House after the game proceeds fund boosting activities. Veterans of Foreign Wars sell Buddy Poppies 9 am to 5 pm with Pecos High Band assisting. Catholic War Veterans plan a flag raising 6 pm at Santa Rosa Cemetery and high mass at Santa Rosa Church with new officers installed. A Cancer Society thank you coffee is set for 4 pm Tuesday at the Holiday Inn to thank volunteers. Hobo Party at First Baptist Salt Flat Monday 6 30 pm features Mulllgan Stew and costumes as choir wears hobo outfits.

Sheriff learns pills are LSD in Bal Morhea case
The Department of Public Safety Laboratory in Austin notified Reeves County Sheriff A. Nail that a large quantity of pills and hashish found in a car driven by Richard Citron of Miami Beach Florida is LSD. Citron was stopped by deputy Butch Purvis for a traffic violation and later charged with drug possession. He is free on bond. The sheriff plans to seek an indictment from the grand jury next month.

Food costs drop slows Nixon price freeze effects

Theft from Tarango car reported in evening

Lady artist Dorothy Archer to lead Pecos acrylic workshop
Mrs. Dorothy Archer, a contemporary abstract artist known as Dor arch, will conduct an acrylic workshop in Pecos the week of November 8 15. She has taught nationwide from her Paso studio, with works in water color glass clay oils and synthetic media. Archer's art has been shown in national and regional exhibits and is in over 600 private collections. Her work is listed in ARTIST USA. The Pecos session covers collage wax paintings modeling paste and other acrylic techniques.

Pecos Girl Wins Breed Champion at Texas State Fair
Jeannie Cooksey of Pecos raised the Dorset lamb shown by her brother Clay that was named breed champion after placing first in the Dorset division at the Texas State Fair and Livestock Exhibition in Dallas. Other Pecos entries included Marcus Joe Martinez third in Hampshire lamb and Corky Pace red ribbon steer.
