A recipient of a kidney from a relative donor has about a 75 to 80 percent chance of living one year and a 50 to 65 percent chance of living two years or longer, according to the report.

Girl Scout Council Event At Hat-A Ranch Pecos
Junior Troop 418 Pecos attended a two day council wide gathering at Hat A Ranch between Fort Stockton and Sanderson on September 21 22. About 250 girls aged 10 12 explored activities from nine interest groups led by adult and senior scouts and learned of cadette and senior opportunities while Per mian Basin Council representatives shared reports and films.

One West Park Baptist WMU group met October 15 at 7 30 p m in Mrs Clyde Chasteen home. Mrs Chasteen called the meeting to order as Mrs L A Pattillo read the prayer calendar and led the opening prayer. Miss Pearl Spikes gave a missionary program from Galatians and closed with a prayer. Miss Spikes teaches at East Eighth Street Baptist Kindergarten and is sponsored by the Southern Baptist Home Mission Board. A short business session followed with a luncheon of creamed chicken enchilados tostados olives pickles pineapple cake and coffee served to Mrs Ralph Williams Mrs L G Worsham and others.

Thorius Named Distinguished Air Cadet at Iowa City
Jerry Thorius son of Mr and Mrs Donald Thorius managers of Pecos Travelodge Motel has been selected by the Air Force ROTC Detachment at the University of Iowa as a Distinguished Air Force Cadet for the year. He worked in Pecos summers for West Texas Telephone and Trans-Con Cable Co and is a chemical engineering senior at a university with about 20 000 students. He has a brother Jim a Pecos High School senior.
