Gin Wins Land Case in Reeves County
The Pecos Gin Co won a land compensation dispute with the Texas Highway Department over 1.4 acres for highway work in Reeves County. The Texas Supreme Court refused to hear the state's appeal of a lower court award of 17 031 dollars, with witnesses testifying damages around 15 000 dollars beyond the land value of 2 031 dollars. The state’s appeal to the Eighth Court failed, and the high court declined further review, ending the case unless rehearing arguments succeed.
