North Pecos Elementary hosts open house and TV lesson

One Stop Veteran Services Van Initiative Details
Red white and blue mobile vans at the 500 Block of Oak Street will host six veteran services specialists from 1 to 5 pm October 20 and 8 am to 5 pm October 24. The effort, led by Donald E. Johnson, VA chief, aims to reach veterans not fully using benefits. The Texas Employment Commission will contribute an employment counselor amid a multi agency team offering education, home loans, medical benefits, disability, pensions, employment help, housing, and counseling. Telephone links enable access to government offices for complete veteran problem servicing. The Texas vans mark a nationwide pilot under President Nixon’s National Assistance for Veterans program to build a track record for expanded delivery of veteran services with agencies such as VA, HUD, and OEO involved. Theft at Community Public Service Building Reported
Police investigate the theft of 1100.92 dollars from a CPS office between 12 10 and 12 30 p m Tuesday. Virginia Owens, a CPS employee, said the money in small bills lay on a desk near the cashier in an office to the rear until two customers and a child entered. She was alone when the money vanished after the customers left. Chief Gene Martin and Patrolman Charles Smith lead the inquiry.
