Senate Boosts Carter Energy Plan with Mobilization Board
The Senate voted 68 to 25 to create an Energy Mobilization Board, a core part of President Carter’s plan to speed energy development and cut foreign oil reliance. The board would fast track projects and push them forward if agencies miss deadlines, while stronger powers to override laws failed. EPA must deem projects unsafe before blocks apply. Senator Henry M. Jackson calls the board the centerpiece of further energy measures.
