City manager J J Maxey notes saturations are rare but possible, with hotspots sprayed daily and full town spraying during hatches. Encephalitis risk is cited as a motive for control efforts.

Library receives 16 Braille books for the blind
Reeves County Library recently received 16Braille books described as notebook form with embossed dots. The Theosophical Books Association for the Blind in Ojai California sent the religious titles free for the blind. Librarian Fran Dearing hopes the collection will help potential users in Pecos.

Retirement honors for Duval plant worker Rusty Morris
Rusty Morris of Tra Park retires after 38 years with Duval Corp spanning Pecos and Fort Stockton assignments. A barbecue honored him with about 100 employees present, a watch from Jack Slack, and his move to Dallas with wife.

Jim Breese was named a deputy of the Reeves County sheriff's office. He joined Pecos sheriff's staff May 6 after a year as a special deputy with the U S marshal's office in Pecos. Breese, a former Pecos Maytag dealer from Roswell New Mexico, plans law enforcement schooling in Pecos and a Basic Certificate later.

Stamp center open again in Pecos after twister damage
The Purple Stamp Store on West Third Street reopened after a tornado damaged the roof and caused dust inside. Manager Mrs. Harold Gustafsonsaid city inspectors declared the building safe and displays were moved back, with no major internal damage observed.
