Red Bluff dam irrigation reacts to dry spring
Judge J E Starley of the Red Bluff Water Power Control District reports this spring as among the driest on record for Pecos river flow. Gates closed ending the first irrigation period March 20, with about 47 000 acre feet used and 8 000 acre feet stored to support 23 000 cultivated acres in seven districts. Cotton fields were fully irrigated and alfalfa watered twice, with further moisture needed by late June depending on water level and watershed rainfall.

Charles Robert Hayes, five year old son of Mr and Mrs J R Hayes, died after a short illness from dysentery. Born in Pecos on September 12 1931 he was a Baptist Church Sunday School student loved by many. Funeral services were held from the Pecos Funeral Home with Rev W M Turner officiating and burial planned in La Rue. The Enterprise extends sympathy to the Hayes family.

Stolen Auto Recovered Here In Kansas City
A Ford sedan stolen from E. J. Mueller of Kansas City on May 5 was found here on May 7 by City Marshall Tuffy Alley and Inspector Sam Hill burn. Suspects Jack Adams and Ernie Hawkins confessed and were handed to Federal authorities in El Paso. The car was recovered 36 hours after the theft.

Wink Band Member Killed In Accident
Mrs. B. Rice and daughter Lavoy Rice of Wink died when their car crashed near Stanton on Wednesday afternoon. Four others were injured and taken to Big Spring for treatment. The group was en route to Oklahoma City for National Band Association contests. Lavoy Rice was a band member.
