Two Hurt After Striking Sheep Near Balmorhea
Two young men on a motorcycle collided with a sheep seven miles west of Balmorhea Sunday afternoon. Larry C. Underwood 25 from Fort Hood and C. J. McDade 20 from San Francisco were listed in good condition at Memorial Hospital Pecos after being thrown 90 feet. Dee Wells Balmorhea highway patrolman said the motorcycle rounded a curve when the sheep ran into its path.

Reeves County Commissioners awarded Hurt Inc of Odessa the contract to plant trees and shrubs around the courthouse. Hurt’s bid of 17498.60 was the lowest of three. Work begins next Monday with dirt hauled from Balmorhea and Barstow for planter fill.

50 Mile Ride for Man Kind Draws Pecos Cyclists
About 150 Pecos youths from Pecos High School Key Club and nearby students rode 50 miles from Fort Stockton to Pecos to raise funds for their school. The event began at 8 AM with all riders finishing, led by Steve Clinton who arrived first at 10 AM. Sponsors paid per mile, with Candy Stripers and Civil Air Patrol aiding along the route and Kiwanis and state officials meeting riders on return.
