Spinks Faces WBC Title Strip Over Bid for Norton Fight
The World Boxing Council threatened to strip Leon Spinks of the heavyweight title if he does not accept open bidding for a title bout against Ken Norton by Friday midnight. WBC president Jose Sulaiman, speaking from Mexico City, cited Spinks’s bad faith and noted action would be announced after the weekend. The WBA supports an All-Spinks rematch while ranking Norton No. 1.
