Path to Peace opens between Jew and Arab
A broad Presbyterian study says conditions now exist in the Middle East to move toward reconciliation not seen since 1947. It notes a de facto acceptance of Israel on both sides and links Arab progress to Israel’s 1967 window on the Arab world, amid terrorist tensions in Tel Aviv. The 21,000-word report was drawn by a 10-member commission led by Rev. Dr. Elwyn Smith.

Christian Church board switches assembly site
The 218 member board of the Christian Church Disciples of Christ rejects Salt Lake City for the 1975 general assembly after Black leaders argue the Mormon stance on race. A Denver site was considered with San Antonio as an alternate, while Cincinnati hosts the 1973 assembly. The meeting also addressed Vietnam era amnesty and U S withdrawal from Indochina, plus China relations and church union efforts. Scholars note Jesus’ ministry length hinges on Passover counts.
