Thunderstorms spawn one harmless tornado across Texas

Severe storms moved across Texas dailing into showers by morning with a single tornado touching down briefly near Nederland Port Neches and Hampshire. No injuries reported minor damage to homes under construction. East winds spread muggy air from the Upper Texas Coast to the Pecos Valley. Weekend highs reached 96 in Pecos with 62 overnight after 93 afternoon.

Marfa men held on drug charges

Three Marfa men, Tommy B. Cash 17 Antonio Escargeda 20 and Howard Dorris 28, remained jailed in Reeves County on marijuana with intent to distribute charges after a Balmorhea arrest May 30. Officers from Reeves Jeff Davis and Brewster counties aided by Texas Ranger Joe Coleman seized about two pounds of marijuana and an auto during a drug deal sting near Balmorhea. Bond set at 25000 each. hearings forthcoming.

Man in Custody After East Pecos Stabbing Incident

Manuel Morales, 21, faces attempted murder charges after a bar stabbing at about 1:50 a.m. Sunday in East Pecos. Victims Manuel Valles and Cirio Montano were injured. Valles admitted to Odessa Medical Center, Montano treated and released. Morales was arrested by deputies and set for a bond hearing.

Injuries Reported In Weekend Vehicle Crashes

Two people were treated and released at Memorial Hospital after four weekend accidents investigated by city police. Mary Contreras and Jacinto Rubio were injured in separate Friday and Saturday incidents on E Third Street and W Second Street respectively.
