Two showers brought relief to parched ranchlands in Reeves county this week amid a blistering heat wave. A first rain lingered three hours Monday night, gauge readings ranged from about one inch to claims of half an inch by cattlemen. Bird's Orchard Owner Buried in Fort Davis
Wm C Bird 66 owner of Bird's Orchard near Fort Davis died after an operation in an El Paso hospital. He came to the mountain country 20 years ago on a stretcher from tuberculosis, and the climate aided a recovery. He built a large Texas fruit and cattle business. Funeral services were held Thursday in Fort Davis with Rev Dawson and Dr Irving officiating. Surviving are his widow, a daughter Mrs Bryan, and a son Charles Jr., all of Fort Davis.
