Former Pecos Woman Laura Pruett Dies in El Paso Home
Laura A. Pruett widow of P. H. Pruett died in her El Paso residence after a five week illness. A Pecos native and pioneer of 1884, she later visited relatives here and in Fort Davis. Funeral services were held in Pecos with burial at Fairview Cemetery. Survived by one sister, two daughters, seven stepchildren, and numerous relatives.

Dorothy Florenc Cook, 24, died at her Pecos home Saturday after a long illness. Funeral services were held Sunday at Pecos Funeral Home with Rev. W. M. Turner, burial in Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers were Halsey Glover, Gage Van Horn, E. L. Buchanan, Campbell Buchanan and Charley Seybert. Survived by father R. C. Cook, two brothers Leroy of Wichita Falls and O. School trustees adopt a regulation offering tax discounts for advance payments. Taxes due January 1, 1940, will be discounted three percent if paid between October 1 and November 2, two percent for payments before December 1, and one percent if paid before January 1.
