Monahans Fiddler Wins Second Annual Contest In West Texas
A Monahans man won $125 in the second annual Old Fashioned Fiddlers Contest at the West of the Pecos Rodeo. About 21 fiddlers performed, with Carl Hazelwood topping a field of competitors. second and third prizes went to Richard Baird of Andrews and Freddie Frank of Odessa.

In Houston a four day old infant died from pneumonia after being abandoned in a downtown restroom Friday. The baby, unclaimed, is to be buried today as juvenile officers and hospital staff urged the mother to come forward for medical history.
