Mrs Julia Hampton Ward 91 died Friday night at her daughter's Fort Worth home. A Pecos and West Texas resident since the 1880s she was born in Virginia in 1847, survived by two sons S W Ward and J L Ward, two daughters S F Kirksey and C A Arbuthnot, six grandsons ten great grandchildren and six grand daughters. Funeral at Harveson and Cole Fort Worth with Dr Huggins.

Sheriff reports burglary ring connected to Pecos Mercantile case
Sheriff Louis Roberson said one of two men tied to the $600 Pecos Mercantile burglary confessed his involvement. C. O. Coulson, arrested at Abilene, and Alvin Tankersley, held at Sweetwater, were being questioned at Tohoka. Shells matched those stolen from the Mercantile and the suspects checked into a Pecos tourist camp the night of the burglary. A complaint will be filed and the pair will be brought to Reeves County jail.

New Gas Manager Takes Up Duties
T W Corr assumed duties this week as district manager for Southern Union Utilities Company. He has been with the company about ten years and helped construct the gas system in the area in 1929. He moved here from Albuquerque and will be followed by Mrs Corr to Pecos when housing is found. The appointment replaces Harvey Beauchamp who moves to Santa Fe NM for a new post. Mrs Beauchamp and their son Freddie will stay until the current school term ends.

Four Suspended Sentences Reported In Local Court
The January term of the 109th judicial district court closed with several cases disposed of. Three criminal defendants received suspended sentences: P. Guillory of Mentone for assault with intent to murder got five years, C. W. Butler for burglary got three years, and Dale Boucher and Glen Cole also received three-year suspensions. One divorce was granted. civil suits proceeded to judgement.
