West Texas ranchers near Midland sent a carload of calves to Buckner Orphans Home in Dallas.
L W Anderson finance officer of the Red Bluff loan committee told the Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday that additional funds are needed for preliminary work on the RF C loan application. The issue has moved to a stage where a few hundred dollars could mean millions later.
Ken Regan of Reeves and 26 western counties is assigned to ten Senate committees in his first term. He chairs the engrossing committee and serves on Educational Affairs Finance Judicial Districts Mining Irrigation and Drainage Public Land and Land Office Representative Districts State Highways and Motor Traffic State Affairs and Senatorial Districts. He is also vice chairman of Banking and Mining and Irrigation and Drainage, aiding his district’s interests.

The body of Daniel Smith, a Pecos Black man missing since Christmas, was found in a pasture between Wink and Pyote. Discovery by Jack Shisler led to sheriff investigations while authorities search for those involved in the suspected gangster style killing.

Bumps and holes along Second Street are to be repaired with gravel and asphalt. Plans worked out this week by the city, the county and the local RFC relief committee allocate machinery and materials from the city and county, with labor from the committee.

Fancher Bell, four and a half years editor of the Pecos Enterprise, buys a sizable stake in the Pioneer Printing Company at Fort Stockton. He becomes secretary treasurer as Barney Hubbs is elected president and Joe Madison vice president. The Pioneer, a long running West Texas weekly, also runs a commercial printing plant.
The Pecos fire department held its annual firemen and friends ball at the Mint Cafe Orient dining room with a turkey and ham dinner served by the Orient ladies. Mayor Toliver, Chief Charley Manahan, Judge Henry Russell, and toastmaster Bill Kerr attended as the Dusky Stevedores provided the music. The woodland decorations and orderly dancing marked a well run event praised by attendees.
Bob Middleton was elected vice president by the board of Security State Bank. Albert Sisk joined the board, Sol Mayer was re elected president, and K M Regan, Middleton, and Clarence Bell were re elected as directors with Bell serving as cashier. Holloway was re elected assistant cashier. Four of five directors now reside in the area.
The C. A. Martin well produced thirty barrels per hour for the first three hours before easing to about two hundred barrels per day. Goldman McKague shot at 4327 4386 with 200 quarts. H W Martin No 2 Wheat Ramsey resumes, likely to be completed in a few days. The BD I Thomas well was stall shot to straighten the hole and is to be pushed to completion with Joe Rush finishing.
