Barstow Hosts Meeting on Taxing University Land in West Texas
A West Texas association met in Barstow with reps from ten of seventeen counties to form an executive committee and push for a constitutional amendment to tax 2,000,000 acres of University land. The aim is about 12,000 dollars in county taxes that would fund public schools, a share the university currently withholds. The group vows to continue lobbying until voters see the injustice and approve the measure. The adjournment allows future calls by the chairman.
