Record cold weather strains utilities nationwide

Utilities in the East and Midwest urged reduced power use as a frigid snap hit half the country. Equitable Gas Co in Pittsburgh told industrial customers to halt production while New York's power pool ordered a five percent voltage cutback to aid heating needs and plants in Michigan and elsewhere closed. Credit Union to Count Fees in Pecos Meeting

Teachers belonging to the Pecos credit union will gather in the high school cafeteria on Thursday to elect officers and review their financial status.
