Arctic Cold Front Pushes South Across Texas Panhandle
A blast of Arctic air moved into the Panhandle lowering temperatures by about 20 degrees and spreading southward. Forecasters warn of snow and freezing rain in the Panhandle and northwest Texas with ongoing cold northerly winds and cloudy to partly cloudy skies elsewhere. Predawn lows ranged from 20 degrees behind the front to the 40s ahead. Brownsville reported 60s as much colder air travels southeast.

Police say a slick gang used a black limousine to enter the Pierre hotel on Fifth Avenue and robbed 47 safe deposit boxes, lifting more than $1 million in cash and jewelry.
