West Texans split on tax reform in White survey
A November questionnaire by U S Representative Richard C White shows West Texans divided on eight tax proposals to be included in the Administration tax reform bill. Responses ranged from a 50 50 split on corporate tax rate reductions to strong support for tax simplification and a job credit, with several measures leaning one way. White noted only about 2000 responses, far below prior surveys, and ranked proposals by importance, led by individual tax cuts and simplification. The seminar, run by the Texas Energy Advisory Council, also discussed Texas energy reserves and lignite industry employment.
