Grissom and Hunter are reported ready to spud in at a new location 25 feet north of the abandoned hole. The initial site was abandoned after casing collapsed at 1188 feet during attempts to stop artesian water flow. A 150 barrel per hour flow was cemented off at 750 feet. a leak developed later. Completion could open a new Reeves county oil field if it proves a producer, with three weeks delay for the forced abandonment. Drilling at the first site averaged near 100 feet daily and plans call for 4000 feet depth or a producer at a lesser depth plus a limestone core test.

Standolind Offsets Planned In Texas Oil Acreage Exchange
Standolind Oil and Gas Co plans two 80 acre offsets to Mason Oil Co in a trade reported last Saturday. Jacqueline Smith eight year old daughter of Mrs O A Smith of Pecos died after an emergency appendicitis operation at a local hospital. Born October 25 1928 in Brownwood she had lived in Pecos recently and was a diligent third grade student. Funeral services were held at Pecos Funeral Home with Rev A C Douglas officiating. Pallbearers were George Ross Hollis Smith R Henry Blackwell and G E Walker. Interment was in Fairview cemetery.

Three oil producers in the Hathaway pool in southern Ward county have been completed. Tide Water No. 7 Johnson in section 28 34 H T C shows a daily potential of 3 888 barrels with 486 barrels in the second half of a six hour gauge. Eastland No. 4 Hathaway in section 37 34 H T C reports 1 864 barrels daily based on a natural flow of 233 barrels in the last three hours of a six hour gauge. Gulf No. 11 Estes slowed 163 barrels of oil in the last half of a six hour gauge to a rate of 1 304 barrels daily.
