Pioneer ranchman Tom Yarbrough, a Culberson County settler since 1908 and longtime church deacon, was found dead in his bed Tuesday. Funeral services were held at Van Horn Presbyterian Church with many mourners and interment in Van Horn cemetery. Survivors include Mrs. R. N. Couch J. E. Couch and Mrs. Aliie Coon of Pecos.

Safety lane tests reveal defects in automobiles
The safety lane test for public safety members found many cars on the highway had defects in safety devices. About 600 automobiles were tested with roughly 50 percent needing repairs in the morning, improving by Friday afternoon as drivers fixed issues. Drilling Resumes on Toyah Wildcat Test Well
Grisham and Hunter resumed work on their wildcat test well located 1.5 miles northeast of Toyah this week after a temporary delay to cement artesian water out of the hole. Artesian flow averaged 150 barrels per hour, struck at 738 feet, with depth at 1000 feet yesterday and about 100 feet drilled daily. The plan is to drill to 4000 feet and perform a limestone core test.

Loving Fugitive Is Caught Tuesday
Andrew Wimberly convicted in September 1935 of assault with intent to rape and a fugitive from justice since April of last year was captured in Henderson Texas Tuesday night. He had been found guilty by a jury and sentenced to a term in the state penitentiary. His appeal to the court of criminal appeals was upheld before his escape. He jumped bond and remained at large until Tuesday night. The case originated in Loving and was transferred to this district court.
