Six persons were reportedly bitten by a dog, which allegedly went mad. The victims include George Jackson, Mrs. Dewey Hollebeke, Jim Cooksey Jr., and Perry Cooksey as the situation prompted Pasteur treatment for the bitten. The event occurred near Orla.
Pecos High will host Kermit teams this Friday night at 7 30 in the high school gym following Pecos 33 to 158 defeat at Wink last Friday. The Pecos boys and girls will face Kermit in separate games, continuing a busy league schedule.
Members of the Pecos Lions Club decided this week to attend a district Lions meeting in Alpine next Wednesday. The session featured musical selections by Ralph Williams Jr. as the program.
Joe Gurley of Gif ford-Hill Construction Company arrived in Pecos to oversee the second section black topping on Carlsbad road. Machinery arrived this week and construction is expected to start by next Monday with about 150 workers and over $100,000 in expenditure.
Governor Miriam A. Ferguson reappointed the Reeves County Relief Committee to act as agents for distributing federal relief funds apportioned to Texas counties by the Reconstruction Finance Corporation. The eight member panel from Pecos Balmorhea and Toyah will draft March April relief applications and coordinate with the West Texas Chamber of Commerce before sending them to Washington for approval and RFС distribution.
The chamber luncheon at Brannon Coffee Shop discussed sending a caravan of cars to the Grandfalls oil field as a February trade trip. William L. Kerr led planning with J F Biggs assisting. Fort Stockton road surveying mentioned in letters from Senator Regan and highway officials. A post office site election news was promised within ten days. Members accepted an invitation to luncheon served by Christian church ladies. Several cars were pledged to carry bidder contractors to the Red Bluff project arriving soon in Pecos.
Vernon L. Sullivan and Pecos engineer announce bids for the Red Bluff dam and siphonic spillway. Firms from as far as San Francisco will inspect the site in Pecos on February 25. Specifications cover seven districts with two sub reservoirs, requiring a 2 percent certified bid check and bonds of 250000 for the dam and 60000 for the spillway.
R. N. Couch of Pecos and Lee Bilberry, LE. W. Sweatt, Walter Burkholder, and Barry Buckelew of Ward county traveled to El Paso early this week to study the prospect of securing federal farm loans for the region.

Land Owners Association plans Saturday meeting at the courthouse to hear former Rep. Lee Satterwhite. They will discuss validating West Texas mineral titles before the legislature, with aims to send a strong delegation to Austin for hearings and to influence bills affecting land and mineral rights.
To ease access for contractors and others to the Red Bluff damsite near Angeles Texas contractor C E Armstrong will grade the mile and a half stretch between Angeles and the site. Armstrong donates the work and sets a high example for the community.
Walter Kinnemer 350 near Duncan Oklahoma was dragged to death Sunday at Crystal Water ranch when his horse bolted while re mounting. Roy McDonald of Crystal Water witnessed the horror as the animal dragged Kinnemer over rocks and cactus, clothing torn and skull crushed. The accident occurred about 8 pm Sunday. ambulance arrived and body shipped to Comanche Oklahoma Tuesday. Kinnemer was fairly well known in the area.
Senator K M Regan introduces a bill to appropriate 12 250 dollars to finance Texas litigation against New Mexico over the Pecos river water allotment and past divisions. L W Yarborough and Vernon L Sullivan prepared data for the suit, which Texas says must be tried before the U S Supreme Court once funds are approved. The measure seeks emergency funding for investigation, preparation, and prosecution.
A Pecos Rotary Thursday noon program featured Jack Hawkins speaking on the ideals Rotary stands for with suggestions on applying them in the Pecos club. The group discussed backing Sul Ross Normal School against a legislative bill, sang together led by Ralph Williams, with D. W. Bozeman presiding and King Green introduced as the new student Rotarian.
A Golden Eagles bus was halted by Highway Patrolman Hardy this week and charged in justice court with speeding in a school zone. A fine was assessed. The patrolman warned Pecos residents to slow in school zones, stressing strict enforcement of this law.
County Judge J. B. Woolfolk faces a tight budget and low tax rate and proposes reducing overhead by selling or trading current heavy road equipment for cheaper to operate machinery.

The Ailes Motor Co operated by Ashton Ailes and L W Ailes will open for business Saturday. Texaco oils and gasoline are handled and a storage and repair garage operates in collection. Location is the Van Horn building formerly the Scruggs Proctor Buick Co.
