Guardsmen Bring Christmas to West Texas Children’s Home
Santa arrived at the West Texas Children’s Home in Pyote as about 230 children aged 3 to 18 received gifts, silver dollars, candy and fruit. Some 120 members of Battery B, 133rd Field Artillery, Odessa unit helped, with 20 Pecos residents among them, drawing names and ensuring two gifts per child. Security State Bank of Pecos funded the silver dollars and the dining hall was festively decorated with a large Christmas tree donated by the unit.

Army Band to Play in Pecos on Bus Tour
The 65 member Army Field Band under Lt. Col. Hal Gibson will perform May 2 at 8 p.m. in Pecos High School Auditorium as part of a 40 band tour sponsored by the Pecos Enterprise. The one and a half hour program includes patriotic, contemporary and classical selections with no admission fee.

County awards bid to H M Truck and Tractor Co
H M Truck and Tractor Co won the bid for a 1973 truck cab and chassis for Reeves County Precinct 4 with a bid of 4168.80. Robinson Chevrolet Buick submitted the other bid of 4231.30. Officials deferred action until the next regular meeting January 8. County officials elected in November to be sworn in January 2.
