The city of Pecos was left as beneficiary of an endowment after Mayor B A Toliver opened a mailed envelope to find two deeds for 30 and 10 acres in Loving county. The deeds from Arthur Baus of Los Angeles require the land not be sold and any income be shared on October 16 each year with Pecos’s poor and needy children.

Mrs Randals Passes Away After Month Long Illness
Mrs. Pearl Amaryllis Randals, wife of Judge Ben Randals, died last Sunday morning after a month of illness. Funeral services were held Monday at the Methodist church with a large crowd attending. Three pastors assisted, led by Rev. Jackson of San Angelo, who praised her loyalty to family and home.

Pioneer Pecos Citizen Benjamin Kraus Dies After Fifty Years
Benjamin Kraus, a pioneering Pecos resident since 1885 and founder of the first barber shop, died last Friday. A German Texan born March 22 1863 in Hempstead, he helped open local mines including Kraus Zinc and West Texas Mica Co, and served as Justice of the Peace. Survived by brothers and several children in Clovis Albuquerque and Pecos.

Panther Captured In Buckley Ranch Trap
A very large panther was caught last Thursday on the Buckley ranch, 65 miles northwest of Pecos. Jim Massie set traps and found the animal in a No 3 steel trap upon returning. The panther measured S feet in length.

Prowler Robs Three Pecos Businesses Overnight
A nocturnal prowler raided Ailes Motor Co White House Grocery and Bar-B-Q Pit in Pecos on Monday night. Two men were arrested nearby and held as investigators examine a flashlight fingerprint clue linking the suspect to the White House heist. About $15 in cash and goods were stolen from the White House Grocery along with rolls candy and cigarettes. The other two shops yielded little beyond broken glass and a momentary search of a cash drawer. Sheriff Louis Roberson leads the case as officers review the evidence and the seized car containing the same brand cigarettes found at the scene.
