By The Associated Press the ice storm that crippled much of Texas Sunday and Monday showed signs of loosening its grip. By 8 a.m. temperatures were above freezing south of a Paris Mineral Wells San Angelo line, except in Waco where freezing drizzle persisted.
President Thieu urged a Christmas peace package proposing a cease fire and release of all U.S. and Vietnamese prisoners during the halt. He said the plan would be presented at the Paris talks. Viet Cong rejected the proposal calling Thieu an obstacle to peace. The report also covers an ice storm in North Texas with numerous road closures and related emergencies.
Parts store burglarized at Bob's Auto Parts 406 E Second St. Sunday night. Patrolman Ben Montanez said burglars tore a screen and opened a window on the northwest side, stealing a toolbox, tools and five sets of brake shoes valued at 190 dollars.
Former President Harry S. Truman, aged 88, showed unstable respiration pulse and temperature overnight. Doctors at Research Hospital reported vital signs worsened during the night but blood pressure stayed normal as of 10 a.m. EST.
