Pecos marked Thanksgiving with five Protestant churches holding union services at the Presbyterian Church led by Rev. F O Parr of the Church of the Nazarene and several pastors. Mrs Leo Blake of Liberty, sister of Bill Sherrod, died at her home last Friday. Mr and Mrs Sherrod attended funeral services at Liberty Sunday. Other survivors include her husband, a sister Mrs Hathorne Brussard of Beaumont and her mother Mrs W B Sherrod of Nome, Texas.

George Wheeler a 19 year old from New York was arrested here Tuesday and charged with burglary after the West Side Grocery cash register was looted of 18 25 the previous night City Marshal L H Red O Neil arrested him while he was exchanging small change for bills Wheeler admitted the burglary and showed how he entered the store nearly all the money was recovered

Illness Claims Pecos Resident Mrs P B Smith
Mrs. P B Smith longtime Pecos resident died Friday in El Paso after eleven years of illness and five years as an invalid. Born Susan Arvil Lan Hinds May 15 1869 in Hindsville Arkansas she married in Gainesville in December 1888. She is survived by four children two daughters and two sons in El Paso and Los Angeles plus four brothers. Funeral services were held Sunday at Pecos Funeral Home with interment in Fairview Cemetery.

A co operative agreement signed by Albert Moore and the Water Facilities Project covers 242 acres of irrigated land 3 miles northeast of Balmorhea. County Agent Ted Johnston explains the 1940 cotton marketing quota proposal to Reeves County farmers eligible to vote in the December 9 referendum.
