El Paso Gas to Build Coal to Gas Plant in New Mexico
El Paso Natural Gas Co plans the world’s first commercial coal to BTU gas plant near El Paso’s pipeline system in New Mexico. About $250 million will be invested to produce 250 million cubic feet of gas daily to maintain current deliveries for an extended period. An application to the Federal Power Commission will be filed soon for construction authority. Initial work would begin shortly after approval.
